Art Show

It feels like summer has arrived. The trees are gradually changing over from the vibrant spring green to the darker green of summer. We are supposed to get an inch of rain tomorrow which makes it the perfect day to stay inside and organize prints for the Memorial Day Art Show on Bald Head Island. I participated over Thanksgiving and it was a very rainy weekend. I'm hoping with some nice weather the turnout is good and I am able to sell some prints! All the artists have a connection to the island (either property owners or employees) and the amount of talent is amazing.

CHARLOTTE

While flying to Asheville last week we got to fly directly over Charlotte NC. This picture was taken from about 6,000 feet. I couldn't believe they let our little plane fly right over the city. After this we went directly over the Charlotte Airport -- got a good view of the 12 planes lined up for departure!

Recipe for a Aerial Photograph

This year I've tried to combine my interest in flying and photography with some aerial pictures of our beautiful region. Every time I go it is a different experience and I never know how the pictures will come out. I spend the flight with my head sticking out the window shooting pictures. Composition and framing are secondary. One of the most exciting parts is getting back on the ground to see what I've got! I am still playing with exposure, lighting and lenses to get the right recipe. So far the most important ingredient is luck!
